Poison Flower
Poison Flower, Feral Poison (detail of the piece unlit)
Soda fired stoneware and translucent porcelain
approx. 20" wide
2015

The Poison Flowers are hybrids of original sculpted forms, and slip-cast and press-molded objects and textures from nature, which I have combined to suggest a ‘new’ organism. I also think of them as decorative arrangements, very similar to a floral arrangement. Flowers are often used to celebrate important moments of our lives, everything from love to death.

This flower was created using molds from: water moccasin, rattlesnake, rooster comb, flowers, leaves, berries, garfish skin, turtle, bananas, corn, and the upper palate of a wild boar
